Paris is known by many as the city of love, and as I embarked on my journey through the historic and cultural city, I quickly learnt this to be true.
I was fortunate to be spending a few nights at Hotel De Montesquieu – a boutique 4 star hotel which is known to be both quirky and lavish. In fact, it only has 26 rooms with 7 suites, giving it an air of exclusivity and privacy.
Nestled on a quiet street right near Avenue des Champs-Élysées and Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, Hotel Daniel is at the heart of high-end fashion boutiques and only steps from some of Paris’ most famous tourist attractions – from the Arc de Triomphe to the Eiffel Tower. I couldn’t have wished for a better location!
Upon entering the residence, I was immediately blown away by the uniquely exotic decor, from the 18th century French Chinoiserie wallpaper to the Oriental silks and satins.
Striking pieces of eclectic furniture border the rooms, each which is uniquely styled in different colour schemes. The marble bathrooms offer a complementary urn of sea salts from the Dead Sea for guests to use – perfect for the ultimate relaxation.
I was delighted to discover that my room featured a private terrace with gorgeous, sweeping views of the city. There was nothing better than winding down at the end of a busy day taking in the views of Paris.
One evening, I dropped by at the hotel bar where I felt like royalty lounging amongst satin cushions and freshly picked orchids. Surrounded by shelves of glittering glasses and intricate de Gournay wallpaper, the whole place boasted class and elegance.
One of the highlights of my stay was definitely when I indulged in Hotel Daniel’s famous teatime experience.
This chic dining features the highest quality, loose-leaf teas. Personally I love the floral notes in my tea, but was keen to try more spice-infused flavours. I also savoured a range of delicate homemade cakes, decadent pastries, tasty sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and sweet homemade jams. All were made made with love from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Sophisticated and sensual, Hotel Daniel is perfect for couples, art lovers and individuals who want a real cultural immersion. They also welcome families with open arms.
Despite the comfort of the hotel, it’s hard to keep the wanderer’s heart at bay when surrounded by so many beautiful and historic landmarks just waiting to be explored.
