We were visiting Chamonix for its hiking adventures and also to visit the world-famous Aiguille du Midi, so chose to stay at Hotel Heliopic. I’d heard many great things about this popular hotel, so was keen to check it out!
We spent our nights in the standard room which quickly proved to be cosy and comfortable. I can totally envision myself returning to Chamonix in the winter to relax there after long days skiing down the snow fields! Our room had a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains – I can barely describe the feeling of gazing out upon them every time I stepped onto the balcony. Their magnificence is out of this world.
If the weather outside isn’t great, there are plenty of books, board games and DVDs available for free at the hotel library, enough to keep you busy through the evenings too!
Of course I reserved plenty of time to check out the spa facilities – known as Spa by Nuxe. Its zen-like atmosphere truly allows a full immersion of the senses. I actually ended up spending an entire day sipping on tea, relaxing in ultra-comfy cocoons by a toasty fireplace and winding down in the sauna. Couldn’t have asked for more!
The main reason we traveled to Chamonix was actually to experience the Aiguille du Midi, which boasts an incredible 360° view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps at a mind-boggling altitude! We were delighted to discover our hotel was only 1 minute away, making it a convenient and memorable trip.
At the main information desk, chat with the friendly concierge who are more than happy to give personalized advice to help organize your days of adventures and exploring. Purchase and reserve ski-lift passes and packages directly from the hotel, or if you’re up for the challenge, consider trying mountain biking, paragliding, climbing or mountaineering!
Whether you’re passing through Chamonix in the summer or the winter, Hotel Heliopic is undoubtedly a fantastic choice of accommodation with plenty to see, do and enjoy all-year round. I’m sure I’ll be back!
