We stayed in a wonderful place called Oporto Loft. The location of this hotel is excellent, Art Hotel is located in the centre of Porto – right in the Arts District -, at 50m from the Crystal Palace Gardens and at a 10-minutes walk from the historic heart of the city where you can visit the famous Lello Bookshop, the iconic Clérigos Tower or enjoy the nightlife spot – Galerias de Paris – with trendy restaurants and bars.

Upon arrival we were greeted by exceptionally friendly hotel staff who immediately offered us a glass of Port and enthusiastically told us of all Porto has to offer, whilst marking-up a map for us in the process.

Not to mention, I was seriously impressed with the history of the hotel. The unit is set on a renovated 19th-century building. Its architectural heritage was maintained and the interior was fully adapted to provide guests the maximum comfort in a space entirely conceived by a local interior designer.

The hotel definitely has a different vibe from your average hotel as the lights are dimmed and the colour scheme is a little darker than usual. It all plays into the fact that the hotel has a long story to tell so it is a cool vibe!

The hotel does care about each detail in the interior. It offers five different themed rooms with a décor and design influenced by both traditional and contemporary art. Each room looks unbelievably modern, eclectic, and quirky.

Our room, on the top floor, was spacious with two separate rooms: a bedroom and a very small «guest room». There were only two of us staying in the room, so we put our luggage in the small one. The room had a very nice view of the street and a good acoustic insulation in windows, so we didn’t have any excessive street noise to deal with at night. This was to our liking. It featured a king-sized bed, flat-screen cable TV, minibar, safe box and work desk.

After busy days of exploring Porto, it was so comforting to come back to a powerful, warm shower and monstrously big bed, that has a plenty of distance if you are and your partner (friend) are having a row and need space apart. It was cleaned daily to a very good standard. Aircon was good also.

Breakfast was unbelievable, so much choice and each choice we made was delicious and perfectly presented. There was a good selection of cereals, cakes, yogurts, bread, croissants, cheese, fresh fruits, meat and scrambled eggs, bacon, small sausages. Trust me you will not be hungry for many hours after breakfast.

Did I like the Oporto Loft? Yes, I would highly recommend the Oporto. I hope you would enjoy your stay as much as I did. Hope it will make your stay in Porto not only comfortable but also memorable.
