10 secret spots you need to check out when in Paris

Well, not so secret anymore! These are my favourite spots in Paris that aren’t overcrowded with tourists 24/7, and are generally more tranquil, serene and beautiful. Many were discovered simply by wandering the magical streets of this city of love, exploring hidden alleyways and venturing into small side streets.

1.The Terrace above Le Printemps Department Store

Despite Le Printemps being quite a popular shopping destination for locals and tourists alike, fewer people know about the rooftop terrace blessed with 360 degree views of the city! To get there, take the elevator to the top floor of the building, then take the escalator up another level to the terrace. Best of all, you can get these incredible views for free!

2.Bois de Boulogne

Back in the day, this was once the hunting grounds for the Kings of France. As one of the largest parks in Western Paris, it’s now an ideal relaxation destination. Escape from the hustle and bustle of the central Parisian lifestyle, and savour some peace and quiet amongst the trees, fields and picturesque lake.

3.Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Located in northeastern Paris, this is a popular place for young families to head out for a weekend picnic. Visit on a weekday when it’s a little quieter, and relax amongst all the greenery and rolling hills. Adventure across the suspension bridge to a large rock formation at the centre of the lake and take in the views!

4.The Paris Sewer System Museum

While this may not necessarily sound appealing, it’s actually a very interesting place to explore! It’s surprisingly not as smelly as you might imagine, and you’re sure to learn plenty about the hidden underground labyrinth beneath the streets of Paris.

5.Catacombs of Paris

Another underground wonder are the Parisian catacombs, which is thought to hold the remains of almost 6 million people! Shrouded with fascinating history, the catacombs are a sight you’re not likely to have in many other places.

6.59 Rivoli

While most travellers flock to the famous galleries and museums like Le Louvre, many don’t get the chance to discover the hipster art scene at 59 Rivoli. Behold its unique frontage and intriguing interior.

7.The Balcony at the Musee D’Orsay

World famous artworks from renowned artists like Picasso and Monet are found within Musee D’Orsay. However, what can be seen from the rooftop balcony has an unmatched natural beauty. If you visit on a spring evening, head upstairs to the terrace balcony at sunset where you have beautiful views over the river and you can admire the glowing horizon.

8.Rue Cremieux

This is a positively delightful street in Paris, lined with brightly painted homes that span all colors of the rainbow. Pass through on a sunny day when the walkway is wonderfully illuminated and take happy snaps in this fun-loving setting.

9.Le Louxor Palais Du Cinema

A perfect spot to visit on a rainy day – the oldest cinema in Paris! It was recently renovated in 2013, and throws you back in time as you sit back and enjoy a historic French film.

10.The Parister

The Parister is nestled away on a quiet street, and it’s undoubtedly the place to stay at for a unique experience! It exudes an energetic vibe, with bright floral arrangements providing a splash of colour and aromatic scents. Luxury at its finest, it’s still relatively new but I’m sure it’ll grow to be hugely popular…so check it out before the crowds come rushing!

I stayed there in November 2017 in the Deluxe Room on the 5th floor. When we first went in the room we were pretty wow-ed at the sight of timeless and typically Parisian elegance, which I think is the perfect way for a hotel room to be decorated.

Apart from the Queen size bed, I had a comfortable room to get ready around the brightly lit desk and even a private terrace with amazing view of the Parisian street. Also, there were designer wallpaper and the brass ornaments, which my friend and I were both a big fan of.

We had breakfast included in our room rates, and I would defo suggest doing the same if you’re visiting the Hotel Parister. We were super impressed with the sheer variety of food on offer, with a very thorough continental selection. Probably you know that I’ve recently become obsessed with sports, and used to spend 2-3 hours per day in a gym. This hotel is one of my favs just because it has a 65-foot-long (20-meter-long) swimming pool, gym, and hammam. Everything I need to begin and end the day!

During our stay in Paris, Hotel Parister made me feel like home. Elegant, warm and yet so cozy! I cannot wait to come back soon it was such a romantic dream.
