Exciting, cutting-edge, quirky, relaxing and luxurious. These are all words I would use to describe my exceptional stay at The Thief Hotel in Oslo!
However, these words only describe the hotel at face-value and I believe that no description, however extraordinary, would be enough to tell you how incredibly amazing my stay there was.
As you have seen on my Instagram, I stayed 2 nights at The Thief. Lucky me! What was first a business trip quickly became a staycation and this for 2 reasons: the first is that this hotel exceeded my expectations and I wanted to relax. The second reason is that following the weather conditions (heavy rain in Oslo) I had to spend more time indoors. So I decided to take full advantage of The Thief. What a great decision this turned out to be!
I had heard about this hotel from my friends who stayed there. They described it as one of the most stylish hotels in Oslo. This is definitely an understatement! There is always something interesting going on in The Thief that attracts a trendy and cool crowd – from Foodie festivals to concerts. Also, I was impressed with their trendy instagram page with a lot of inspiring pictures.
Upon entering this popular hotel, you immediately notice that it is a place like none other- you are immersed in its atmosphere of trendiness and its unique wow factor. Whether you decide to partake in their world-class gastronomy, take in the cutting-edge art or simply relax in your comfortable room, you will find all the stresses of daily life disappearing as you enjoy what it has to offer.
I took a premium room with a wonderful view. The room was incredible. A private balcony, a more than a comfortable bed, a desk/work area, a large bathroom with a rain shower. Besides having plenty of room to spread out, it came complete with some amazing details and features, giving the space a huge amount of styles like the chair designed by Antonio Citterio and the blanket from Røsos Tweed.
It was such a pleasure to wake up to the gorgeous view of Oslofjord from my private balcony or through the floor to ceiling window. You don’t experience this every day! Though it was so hard to leave the king size bed from Hilding Anders and to stop cuddling under duvets and pillows from Høie of Scandinavia. I got so inspired by the bed that I want to have one at my home. It’s the best option for those who only settle for the very best, for people who value the supreme comfort of use, highest quality, and elegant design.
I was on a business trip so I was craving some working space. A spacious work desk with the lamp was a good solution to work from the hotel. It’s the best feeling to reply to e-mails sipping coffee and wearing The Thief bathrobe. Also, I used the Geneva sound system to play calm music in the background.
Every morning there is a varied and tasty buffet breakfast included, and it was easy to spend at least an hour sampling all the delicious food. Healthy options were available as well, which was perfect for me while I was tackling my healthy diet.
Another feature to mention is Thief Spa which is considered to be one of the best in the city. I spent my best hours in Hammam …. Hammam is hands-down the best facility at The Thief Hotel and I made sure that I was able to enjoy it fully. It is based on the ancient Turkish tradition of a special bathing ritual in the days before people had bathrooms at home. It resembles a small cave and you can sit back and take in the wonderful view of the waterfront.
This is the ultimate in relaxation and luxuriousness and my treatment began with a body cleanse, involving the therapist using a body scrub to remove dead skin cells and to improve blood circulation. My body was left feeling stress-free, glowing, indulged and slightly tingling in a good way.
After the body cleanse, you have the option of using the pool as long as you wish, followed by a gentle mist shower and then a detoxifying steam shower. I would highly recommend spending at least a few hours in the Hammam, especially if you need to destress!
Ultimately my stay at The Thief was almost perfect. The food, the room, the grounds, and the spa were all sensational. But a special shout out should go to the staff. The young, helpful staff are happy to share their insider knowledge of the city and make for a cozy, quiet base for city exploration.
As usual, I always believe that the staff truly makes a stay amazing. Couple with the Thief other beautiful attributes; this made my trip to Oslo well worthwhile.
