We haven't had much time to visit Logar Valley, but we spent a couple of hours there. It was cloudy, but I believe it looks even better when it's sunny. The natural allure of this place is simply irresistible, beckoning visitors to explore its wonders and immerse themselves in its captivating landscapes.
We had a wonderful lunch in a small place called Kmečka Hiša Ojstrica. The charming eatery served us delectable Austrian dishes like schnitzel and apple strudel. Indulging in the local cuisine added a delightful twist to our visit, allowing us to savor the flavors of the region and fuel our adventurous spirits.
Even frequent visitors to Slovenia, like myself, often find themselves stopping and staring, mouth agape, transfixed by the indescribable beauty of this land. With so much beauty going around, it's impossible to choose a favorite spot, but Logarska Dolina is a serious contender. This glacial valley, spanning a mere 7.5km in length and no more than 500m wide, has been a vast country park for almost three decades. Its natural wonders, including caves, springs, peaks, rock towers, and waterfalls, offer endless exploration opportunities. Moreover, the valley boasts endemic flora and fauna, adding to its allure.
Logarska Dolina is a fabulous place to explore for a day or two, offering over 40 natural attractions to discover. The sheer variety of the park's landscapes and features ensures that every step reveals something new and breathtaking. Whether you're captivated by the mystery of underground caves, enchanted by the gushing springs, or awe-inspired by towering rock formations, the valley has something to captivate every adventurer's heart.
The park is open year-round, ensuring that visitors can experience its beauty regardless of the season. Even during the winter months, a small skiing area provides ample opportunities for snow enthusiasts to enjoy some outdoor fun. From April to September and on weekends in October, cars and motorcycles entering the park must pay an entrance fee. However, pedestrians and cyclists always enjoy free access to the park, making it a perfect destination for those seeking an active and eco-friendly experience.
If you prefer exploring on foot, you're in luck. At the park entrance, you can rent bicycles for a convenient and scenic way to navigate the surroundings. Bicycles can be rented at a reasonable rate, with options of €3 per hour or €12 per day. Pedaling through the valley allows you to embrace the tranquility and immerse yourself in nature at your own pace. Whether you choose to embark on a leisurely stroll or an invigorating bike ride, Logarska Dolina rewards every adventure enthusiast with unforgettable experiences.
